Below are some updates on the work of HillcrestMay 09 £1,000 raised for food to provide children with more than one meal a day
The Rotary Club of Alresford working with Soroptimist International of Elmbridge have worked together to raise £1,000 to help feed children and support Hillcrest projects.
A significant number of children, especially AIDS orphans rely on the one meal a day provided by the government through the schools. This is not nutritionally sufficient and therefore some schools in the township area are feeding children with a maize porridge in addition. The rest of the time the children will boil water and/or try to chew leaves in order to satisfy their hunger.
