Refurbishment of Inchanga Primary School 2009/10

In 2009 a shanty town outside Durban was cleared and housing was provided in the locality of the Inchanga Primary School. This increased the pupil numbers by some 300 with no additional classroom provision. The upper story of the original building of 1922 had become disused and virtually a pigeon loft.

To provide additional classrooms for the children, a refurbishment program was put in place by the charity supported by Richard Shave of the Pinetown Rotary Club, South Africa, the Alresford Rotary Club, Hampshire, UK and other clubs in the Hampshire region. This resulted in the provision of two additional classrooms upstairs, the refurbishment of two classrooms downstairs, and the refurbishment of the outside of the building.

The pictures below show the building before and after refurbishment.
