About Hillcrest Aids Charity Trust

The charity is a registered charity and non-profit organisation.  All trustees and helpers are volunteers from the professional sector.  The charity undertakes fund raising in England to support the education of aids orphans in South Africa by paying their school fees, school uniforms and books.

The charity also organises visits to South Africa for 6th Form students in England to work in township schools in the Valley of a Thousand Hills, a rural township.  They undertake a major renovation of a different school each year, painting and decorating the classrooms and teaching the pupils.

For the first time in December 2008, the end of the South African school year, a group of 16 pupils in the final year of primary education from 4 Township primary schools were taken on a two day safari to an educational camp in the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park.  This was a reward for pupils efforts and achievement during the past year.  For most this was despite extreme difficulties.

The visit in addition to being a reward gave these pupils the unique opportunity to learn about South African wildlife - their heritage.

Through the work the charity also provides education on HIV/Aids for pupils in schools in England.  The charity is linked to the Hillcrest Aids Charity Trust based in South Africa.
