Back in May, Margaret spent a day with the 26 grade 11 students from Hillcrest High School and Kloof High School, to plan for our fourth Valley Project due to start this week on the 4th of July. The students, together with Margaret and two of their teachers, will spend two weeks in a rural primary school in the KwaNgolosi Valley, painting classrooms and teaching the young learners core curriculum subjects such as Maths and English as well as creative arts and life skills.

During their day with Margaret, the students mainly worked on preparing the lessons they will be teaching and talked about behaviour management strategies. They were also organised into their painting groups, which consist of a mix of pupils from each of the two schools.
For most of the high school students, this will be the first time they have ever visited a rural township area. During their two weeks, they will have lots of opportunities to learn about the many issues and challenges facing the young people there, including the impact of HIV and AIDS, whilst creating new friendships and lasting memories.
Results from our past projects show that the pupils coming together like this helps to break down cultural and economic barriers. It inspires and brings hope where it is most needed.
To help keep this and our other wonderful projects going, please donate here.
We are a registered UK charity raising funds to support children impacted by HIV and AIDS and rural township schools. All money raised goes directly to the projects.
