The Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust is a registered charity in the UK (charity number 1104928). All trustees and helpers are volunteers from the professional sector. The charity undertakes fundraising in England to support the education of AIDS orphans in South Africa by paying for their school uniforms and books.
The charity also has organised visits to South Africa for 6th Form students in England to work in rural township schools in the Valley of a Thousand Hills, a rural township in KwaZulu-Natal. They undertake a major renovation of a different school each year, painting and decorating the classrooms and teaching the pupils. Since 2016, the project has continued, but using South African students.
Projects
Through its various projects, the charity also provides education on HIV/AIDS for pupils in schools in England. The charity is linked to the Hillcrest Aids Centre Trust SA (HACT) – a registered Non-Profit organisation based in South Africa.
