Our latest two week Valley Project has just come to an end. This is the fourth year that this project has run and once again it has been a great success. The project brings together learners from different backgrounds and can be a way of forging new and lasting friendships. For many of the High School students, it is a valuable opportunity to see life from a very different perspective.
Again this year, the 26 year 11 (16 – 17 years old) students came from Hillcrest High School and Kloof High school. They spent two weeks in a rural primary school in the KwaNgolosi Valley where they exhibited their talents as painters and decorators and also as teachers able to share their knowledge. The two weeks, although hard work, were also full of fun.

During the first week the students worked in two teams, giving some classrooms a much needed make-over. The second week was spent with them teaching Maths, English and other lessons that they had planned with support from Margaret Turnbull and their own teachers in the weeks leading up to visit.
As part of this project, the High School students are expected to fundraise in order to buy essential materials such as paint, brushes and any resources needed to support their teaching.
Although the students always rise to the fundraising challenge, with the ever increasing cost of materials, more support is always needed. If you want to help ensure projects like these are fully resourced and continue to happen please donate here.
We are a registered UK charity raising funds to support children impacted by HIV and AIDS and rural township schools. All money raised goes directly to the projects.
