News just in!

June 30, 2021

We’ve received updates from Lebo and Nompilo at university. Lebo is in Durban studying Law and Nompila is in Johannesburg studying Accountancy. Both have been working very hard on their assignments and at the moment are revising for their first term exams. Lebo is extra busy as she has gained a place on the university netball team which is fabulous!

Given the new wave of the COVID-19 pandemic sweeping South Africa, all lectures and group sessions are online. Although they are allowed to go to the library on campus to work, most of their studying is done in their rooms. They say that studying in a pandemic “feels strange”.

Strange times, staying safe

Here are some pictures they have sent us of their super-tidy rooms – both are sharing with another student, and it is here that they each spend much of their time.

We will keep you posted on their progress and their lives at university.

It has changed me to want to work more, and it was a fantastic experience even though it took a week out of our holiday, it was wonderful and I would definitely do it again.
