Lebo’s news

August 19, 2022

Last week, Margaret had the chance to have a catch up with Lebo who is studying Law. She is at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, based in Durban and is nearing the end of her second year. She has recently spent a week shadowing in a law firm in Durban, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She said,

“It was amazing, I was with the people taking their articles at the firm and they were so helpful.  They gave me lots of advice even about the University course which some had recently finished.”

Although Lebo keeps Margaret informed of how she is doing, saying that she is doing OK and keeps working to achieve higher marks, she had a big surprise for Margaret…

“Lebo informed me that in the last week she had received a letter from the university which invited her to join the Golden Key Club.  This invitation is only offered to students in the top 15% in their subject cohort, so Wow!”

The Golden Key is an International Honour society made up of the top students from different faculties around the world. The main aim is community service and outreach programmes, with opportunities for internships and travel, a chance to join with others to really make a difference.

Lebo is the first of the students we sponsored through high school. It’s always wonderful to receive her news. It is also great to see how sponsoring young people through school can have such a positive and lasting impact.

A big thank you to all the sponsors who have supported Lebo over the years, and of course, thank you Lebo for all your hard work – you really are an inspiration!

Yes, it has. This experience has opened my eyes and made such a positive impact on my life. I have become more aware of the problems in our country and the world. I have gained confidence in myself knowing that I’ve have changed someone’s life and it excites me to think about future projects I will participate in.
