“Now is the time to step up collaboration and international solidarity to place education and lifelong learning at the centre of the recovery and the transformation towards more inclusive, safe and sustainable societies.” – António Guterres, UN General Secretary

The 24th of January marks International Education Day and this year we want to extend a huge thank you to everyone supporting our education initiatives. We particularly want to thank the anonymous donor who recently offered to fund the cost of transport, uniforms, schoolbooks, and other learning equipment for Kwanele and Amanda, two gifted young high school learners we sponsor in the Valley of 1000 Hills. This offer has been most gratefully received and has been a wonderful relief for us. Particularly when finances are so stretched due to Covid-19 restrictions having stopped many of our usual fundraising activities. And now we desperately need to raise more funds to continue supporting other pupils like Neliswe, who we also sponsor through high school.
So, despite the restrictions made by Covid-19 our work goes on…
Sadly, due to the pandemic Margaret Turnbull can’t travel to South Africa. But together with the South African NGO, Partners for Possibility, she is now delivering training sessions for the school principals we work with via Zoom. Times are particularly hard for the township schools. They are having to organise smaller classes and carry out many other changes with not enough teachers or classrooms which, at the best of times, is a massive task. But with the new Covid-19 mutation running rampant this must feel like an impossibility. The support and expertise Margaret offers is invaluable.
Please do contact us if you would like us to assist with fundraising events or you can donate here. 100% of all donations go to the initiatives we support.
We are a registered UK charity raising funds to support children impacted by HIV and AIDS and rural township schools. All money raised goes directly to the projects.
