After two years of having to put this project on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our South African Student Project, (now called The Valley Project) continues. Once again, we have a wonderful group of dedicated students from both Kloof High School and Hillcrest High School who have given up their time and raised funds to take part in this project.

They have been working really hard, painting and restoring classrooms at Dawede Primary School, a school we recently reported on during the KwaZulu-Natal floods in the Valley of 1000 Hills.
As a result of the terrible flooding back in April, some of the walls had very large cracks, so before any work began, a builder was brought in to ensure that the structure was safe. Once the students arrived, their first job was to prepare the walls for painting. The walls were scrubbed down with sugar soap, and then the decorating could begin. Six classrooms needed cleaning and painting, so there was lots to do. Due to COVID, this year the students will not be taking part in the usual shared face-to-face teaching component of this project. Because of this, there is more time to give to the painting and decorating. So, once all the classrooms are decorated the plan is to also paint some of the outside walls of the school.
This annual project is organised by our founder Dr Margaret Turnbull in partnership with all the schools involved. We are immensely grateful to the schools and all the staff for their assistance, to the fantastic fundraisers and donors, and of course, to the fabulous students.
If you would like to help keep this wonderful project going, then please donate here, where every single penny goes a long way and makes a huge difference to the communities we support.

We are a registered UK charity raising funds to support children impacted by HIV and AIDS and rural township schools. All money raised goes directly to the projects.
