We are thrilled to announce that the cleaning and painting of 6 classrooms at Dawede Primary School is now complete! Twenty-eight wonderful students from both Kloof High School and Hillcrest High School KZN, South Africa, gave up their time to raise funds and take part in this project.

Not only did they raise an amazing R37000.00 (£1800) to pay for the decorating materials, but they also worked from 8.00am to 3.00pm Monday to Friday and Saturday morning to ensure everything was completed on time.
The students took such pride in their work. As well as decorating, they also cleaned the furniture and set up the classrooms ready for the teachers to teach. On top of that, they even found time to paint two of the outside walls!
Our founder, Margaret Turnbull, said that the students were “amazing”. She also said “…amid all the hard work there was still time for lots of laughter. Four of the students even had a short race in their very short lunch break!”
Dawede Primary is in the Valley of 1000 Hills, and was affected by the devastating floods, back in April, that wreaked havoc across KwaZulu-Natal. What a transformation the classrooms at the school have had. See our previous news posts to get a glimpse of what the school and classrooms looked like before. It’s just so exciting to see the change! These pictures show the bright and cheerful classrooms in all their glory.
