Wow!

May 4, 2020

An amazing £1690 has been raised so far for our urgent appeal. Thank you to everyone who has donated or shared our Facebook page with friends.

The total raised so far will enable us to reach more than 40 vulnerable families of the children in the schools we work with, where the breadwinners have lost vital income/jobs due to the COVID-19 lockdown. Now we can deliver even more food than we expected! At present, we are busy organising the logistics through HACT SA and Lionsraw, who are both mega-efficient and experienced at identifying, contacting and delivering emergency food parcels. Food parcels will be going out this week.

To show how your funds are being used, here is an example of the contents of a hamper:

  • 1kg baby porridge
  • 10kg maize
  • 2kg rice
  • 750g cooking oil
  • 2kg sugar beans
  • 1kg salt
  • 1kg sugar
  • 70kg butternut squash
  • 10kg potatoes
  • 4 x soap
  • 4 x toilet roll
  • 4 x 100ml sanitizer

Each emergency food and essentials hamper will last an average family of four, for two weeks.

But our aims do not stop there. If we can raise £2000 then we can reach dozens more families or do multiple deliveries to the 40 identified families over a longer period of time. It is never too late to help us reach this goal and maybe even beyond. If you can, please donate here.

If it is your birthday then why not use this as an opportunity to set up a Facebook birthday fundraiser using our Facebook link and make an amazing difference on your special day!

Once again, thank you from us all!

It (the project) has given me the desire to be helpful and charitable towards others because I am so privileged compared to the children.
