On Saturday afternoon (26th September) we held another bead sale at the wonderful Holy Innocents Autumn Fair in Hornsey, North London. The sun was shining, and throughout the day we had a steady footfall. It was a great opportunity to promote the charity and talk to so many people about what we do.
The icing on the cake was that we made £155.50. The beautiful, handmade, beaded jewellery we sell comes from Woza Moya, the economic empowerment scheme set up by HACT SA. This jewellery is mainly made by the Gogos (grandmothers) as a way of earning an income to support their grandchildren, many of whom are left in their sole care.
Margaret used to tell us how mesmerising it was to watch them deftly working on the intricate pieces, while all the time, they would be talking or singing and barely seeming to be looking at what they were doing, yet the results of their work are always amazing.
A huge thank you to everyone at Holy Innocents Church for (as always) making us feel so welcome. And thank you to everyone who bought something, made a donation, or just stopped to say hello.

We are a registered UK charity raising funds to support children impacted by HIV and AIDS and rural township schools. All money raised goes directly to the projects.
